BWT Aqua AG · point-of-use fountains
Water, CO2 bottles and filters tracked on BWT still and sparkling fountains: 26,881 PET bottles avoided
At a glance
Client: BWT Aqua AG
Assets: 3 BWT top-of-counter still and sparkling fountains
Period: since 16 September 2025 (figures as of October 2026)
Platform: fountainOS
The challenge
BWT wanted to know whether connected fountains could make service smarter: exact consumption, CO2 bottles replaced before they run out and filters changed on real use.
What we installed
- 3 Droople Hubs — one per fountain
- Flow, temperature and CO2 pressure sensors
Alarms that did the work
- CO2 bottle empty / low level · 3 bottle changes anticipated
- Filter capacity · 3 filters monitored
What the data showed
Results
- 26,881 PET bottles avoided since September 2025
- 2,226 kg CO2 saved
- CHF 5,355 saved compared with bottled water
- 13,440 litres of drinking water served, 0.61 L per use on average
- Pilot, Sept – Dec 2025: 4,780 litres tracked, 3 CO2 bottle changes anticipated with predictive alerts, 3 filters monitored with capacity alerts
The droople solution functions perfectly and would be exactly what we would need for our fountains to make them more intelligent and to streamline our service operations!

The takeaway
A fountain that reports its own CO2, filter and usage status is a fountain that gets serviced at the right time.
